Freshman Phoebe McCowan Breaks Kentucky 800 Record

Phoebe McCowan’s first individual state outdoor track title came in record fashion. The freshman from South Laurel won the Class 3A 800 meter final in an all-time state record time of of 2 minutes, 11.6 seconds at the Kentucky state meet in Lexington.

In the sprints, junior Kaleb McDonald of Jeffersontown won the 3A girls 100 (11.76), 200 (24.52) and 400 ( 56.17).

In 3A boys action, Henry Clay junior Langston Jackson won the 100 (10.56) and 200 (21.33). He also ran on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

In the field, junior Bryan Hudson of Scott County set a 3A record in the shot put (63-9.5) and also won the discus title (187-1).

Freshman Sophie Galloway of Graves County won the 3A triple jump (38-10) and long jump (18-4).

Henderson County senior Jaci Bickett soared over 12-6 to win the 3A pole vault.

Freshman Clayton Franklin of North Oldham broke a Class 2A record in the pole vault, clearing 15-2.25.

The Elizabethtown girls 4x800 relay set a 2A meet record (9:35.70).

Boyle County’s boys won the 4x200, setting a 2A record in 1:28.76. 

Aaron Johnson of Mercer County set a 2A 300-meter hurdles record (38.21).

Sophomore Promise Cross of Rowan County won the 2A high jump clearing 5-6.

Senior Melanie Welsing of Model won the 100 hurdles in a 1A record time of 14.63.

Saleia Porter, a junior from Fort Knox ran a 1A 400 record of 55.91 and claimed the 200 (25.56).

The Fort Knox boys 4x200 relay set a 1A record, running 1:29.

Keeton Thornsberry of Holy Cross won the Class 1A boys 1,600 (4:19.97).

Class 3A -- Trinity (Louisville) boys 87; Male girls 75.5

Class 2A -- Boyle County boys 110; Boyle County girls 84

Class 1A -- Danville boys 73 points; St. Henry District girls 58 points
