Langston Jackson Crushes State 100, 200 Records - Kentucky State Meet Recap 2019

Jackson Runs 10.23/20.73 To Become All-Time Kentucky Sprints King

Langston Jackson of Henry Clay pulled off the greatest day of high school sprinting in Kentucky history on Saturday at the state championship meet in Lexington.

Jackson, who will run at the University of Kentucky, ran 10.23 to win the 100 meters and 20.73 to claim the 200 meters. Both are new all-time state records.

The 100 meters time was wind-legal and is tied for US#3.

Jackson also helped his team win the 4x100 relay (41.55) and the 4x200 relay (1:26.95).

Rosalynd Hollingsworth helped Tates Creek win its first team title with an impressive day of sprinting as well. Hollingsworth won the 100 meters in 11.69 seconds to break Kianna Gray’s all-time state record.

Iaunia Pointer from Sacred Heart Academy beat Hollingsworth in the 200, 24.39 to 24.65. Kaleb McDonald from Jeffersontown, the state record holder, was third (24.69).

Pointer also won the girls 400 meters in 57.09 seconds.

William Wharton from Layafette won the boys 400 in 48.11.

Luke Spurrier from South Warren ran 1:52.25 to win the boys 800 meters final.

Senior Jenna Strange bolstered Tates Creek’s championship run with wins in the 1,600 meters (4:57.85) and 3,200 (11:02.49).

Bryan Hudson from Scott County won the shot put (56-6) and discus (173-7).

Sophie Galloway of Graves County, a sophomore, won the long jump (18-3), triple jump (40-7) and 100 hurdles (14.49).

Chris Duffy led Boyle County to the 2A boys team title with victories in the 100 meters (10.46w), 200 (21.40w), plus anchor legs on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Valesha Watson from Paducah Tilghman won the 2A 100 (12.13), 200 (25.08) and 400 (57.36).

Class 3A – St. Xavier boys 78 points, Tates Creek girls 86 points RESULTS

Class 2A – Boyle County boys 108 points, Mercer County girls 91 points RESULTS

Class 1A – Holy Cross (Louisville) 68 points, Beechwood girls 48 points
