Jessica Secor Doubles 2:10.13/4:40.06 For Victorious DuPont Manual

The DuPont Manual girls took home the Class 3A state team title last Saturday at the University of Kentucky, scoring 88.50 points thanks to Alexandra Allen and Jessica Secor combining for four individual titles. 

Secor ran lifetime bests in both the 800 and 1,600 meter races, running two state meet record times of 2:10.13 in the 800 and a US#7 of 4:40.06 in the 1,600. Allen won the 100 and 200 races, running 12.23 in the 100 and 24.86 in the 200, and was also third in the 400, running 56.33. 

Sophia Richter of Eastern won the girls 400 in a personal best 55.45, holding off South Laurel’s Gracis Hoskins in 56.25. 

Ciara O’Shea concluded her prep career at Madison Central with her fifth state track title, winning the girls 3,200 in 10:38.73.  

Aly Doyle of West Jessamine swept the hurdles races in personal best times, winning the 100 hurdles in 14.32 and the 300 hurdles in 42.40, and won the long jump with a mark of 18 feet. 

Louisville Male collected wins in both the girls 4x100 and 4x200 relay races in times of 47.69 and 1:40.54, respectively.  

Assumption girls ran 9:12.16 to win the 4x800 title to set a new state meet record, besting the program’s 2012 time of 9:17.45. 

St. Xavier won the 3A boys team title with 83.50 points, led by James Burnett in the 400 in a winning time of 48.64. 

Madison Central’s Wyatt Stewart won his third boys pole vault state title with a clearance of 16-8, besting his own previous state meet record of 16-3. 

South Oldham’s Grayson Brashear threw a US#23 mark of 63-4.5 to win the boys shot put and threw 171 feet to win javelin.  

South Oldham’s Samuel Reagan jumped a state meet record and US#21 24-5 to win the boys long jump.

Covington Catholic took home the 4x800 boys title in a time of 7:52.14.

Class 2A

Mercer County boys held off Bourbon County 74-72 to win the Class 2A boys team title on Friday, led by Beau Brown in the 100, 200 and 400. The senior ran 10.77 in the 100, a meet record 21.46 in the 200 and a meet record 48.16 in the 400 to win three state titles. 

Taylor County’s Hunter Coslow won the boys shot put with a throw of 60-2.5.

Lexington Catholic scored 83 points to claim the 2A girls title, with Carolina Beiting claiming two state crowns in the 800 (2:14.61) and 1,600 (5:07.50) races.

Mercer County got another sprint sweep from Teigh Yeast as the freshman won the girls 100 in 12.40, the 200 in 24.83 and the 400 in 56.22. 

Mason County’s Lexi Young cleared a personal best 5-8 to win the girls high jump and hit 18-0.5 to win the long jump.

Class 1A

Beechwood girls dominated the Class 1A meet on Thursday, scoring 100 points. Both the 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams won their respective state titles for Beechwood, with the 4x200 running 1:45.81 and the 4x400 running 4:11.10.

Walton-Verona scored 64 points to take home the boys team title. Jackson Smith won the 100 and 200 in 11.07 and 22.18, respectively, and Grady Shay won the 110 hurdles in 15.32 for the Bearcats.
